The
internet has caused a revolution in technology and communication where
more and more people are using it to broadcast products, services and
knowledge. All this information is broadcasted through websites, where a
website has to be created with all of this information. However, just
creating a website is not sufficient; you have to make sure that people
visit your website. And this can be done with search engine
optimization.
Search
engine optimization is basically divided into various parts of which
link exchange is an important part. With exchange of links, you have to
exchange links with other people having websites that have content
similar to the content on your site. To exchange links, first you have
to find websites that will be profitable to link with. On finding
suitable websites, you have to send an email to the webmaster requesting
link exchange. Most webmasters agree to link exchange, provided you also
provide a link for them to use. With link exchange, when a person visits
one site, on clicking the link on the site, the surfer will be linked to
the other site as well. So if a person visits your partner’s site, there
is a great possibility of them clicking on your link which would be on
that site. This leads to increased traffic to your site.
When
exchanging links, exchange it with websites that bring targeted traffic
where people will be interested in your products and services. There is
no use of linking with a site on gardening if you sell computer
accessories as the visitor on the gardening site will not be interested
in clicking on your link. Moreover, you may have to bear a penalty from
the search engines for this link exchange.
It is
always better to keep your link title as short as possible, and absent
of long and boring sentences. The longer it is, the more space it takes
on a website, and the higher the possibility of your link not getting
accepted by webmasters. Try to aim at keeping the description of your
link as short as possible. Something below one hundred characters is
quite feasible.
It is not
feasible to capitalize the letters in your link title or its description
as it will be read wrongly by search engine spiders. When you approach
webmasters for an exchange of links, it is not advisable to give a
deadline for them to reciprocate. Webmasters are people who are quite
busy, and sometimes it may take them somewhere between one to sixty days
to answer your query. Give them time, and be patient because in the long
run, you are the one who stands to benefit with worthy link partners.
Once you
get a link partner for your site, it is not advisable to remove their
links from your site unless instructed to do so. This will result in a
breach of understanding and confidence. Instead, it is better if you
inform the webmaster about the benefit you are experiencing with link
exchange with them.
Make it a
point that your link pages are search engine friendly by having at the
maximum, 25 links per link page. Never approach webmasters for link
exchange if your website is incomplete. Webmasters never agree to link
exchanges with sites that are in construction. And when approaching the
webmasters, don’t produce false information and statistics about your
site with the hopes of them obliging to a link exchange. The webmasters
will never believe outrageous claims you make on your site!

linking campaign. Choose your link partners wisely, and you definitely
generate quality traffic to your website!
